These terms govern the use of this website and the purchase of subscriptions, products and commissioned work through it. Please read them before subscribing or placing an order: by completing a purchase you confirm that you have read and accepted them. Nothing here limits the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
Who we are
Alunha Art Studio is the trading name behind the website www.alunha.com and the legal owner and manager of the "Magic Mail Club" subscription.
You can reach us at any time at contact@alunha.com. We answer every message ourselves, usually within a few working days.
Our activity is illustration, graphic and editorial design, and the Magic Mail Club: a monthly subscription of physical correspondence sent by post.
The Magic Mail Club subscription
The Magic Mail Club is a monthly subscription. Each month you receive an envelope by post containing a letter, one or more illustrations and other handmade items. The contents change every month and are meant to be a surprise, so the specific items are not guaranteed in advance.
The price shown at checkout is the final price you pay: it includes shipping and any applicable taxes. There is no joining fee and no minimum term.
The subscription renews automatically, charging the amount to the card you registered on the same day of the month you first subscribed — if you subscribed on the 10th, you are charged again on the 10th of the following month.
The monthly cycle works like this:
- The cycle closes on the 22nd of each month.
- If you subscribe between the 22nd of one month and the 22nd of the next, you receive the edition of the current month.
- Envelopes are prepared over the following days and posted from Spain during the last days of the calendar month.
How to cancel your subscription
You can cancel whenever you want, on your own, without giving a reason and without any penalty. There is no cancellation fee and no minimum number of months.
Cancelling takes under a minute:
- Open the Customer Portal.
- . Enter the email address you used when you subscribed. You will be sent a one-time access link — there is no password to remember.
- Open that link and select your Magic Mail Club subscription.
- Choose "Cancel subscription" and confirm.
- You will receive a confirmation email. Keep it as proof of the cancellation.
Cancelling stops future renewals. It does not cancel the period you have already paid for: your subscription stays active until the end of that period, and if the cycle has not closed yet you will still receive that month’s edition.
So, two dates matter. Cancel before your renewal date if you do not want to be charged again, and before the 22nd if you do not want to receive the coming edition.
If you cannot access the portal for any reason, write to contact@alunha.com from the address you subscribed with and we will cancel it for you and confirm by email. We will never ask you for your card details to cancel.
Prices and payment
Payments are processed by Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe’s systems: we never see them, receive them or store them.
If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it over the following days. If it keeps failing, the subscription may be paused or cancelled and that month’s envelope will not be sent.
If we ever change the price of the subscription, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies, so you can cancel beforehand if you prefer. A price change never applies to a period already paid for.
Shipping policy
All envelopes are posted from Spain using ordinary mail. This keeps the price of the subscription low, but it means letters are not tracked, just like old-fashioned correspondence.
Estimated transit times, counted from the shipping date and not from the payment date:
- Spain: 3–5 business days.
- Europe: 5–8 business days.
- Rest of the world: ~15 business days.
These are estimates given by the postal service, not guaranteed delivery dates. By subscribing you accept this delivery schedule, which — depending on the day you sign up — can mean more than 30 days between your payment and the arrival of your first envelope.
Keep your shipping address up to date in your account, and always before the 22nd. Once the cycle closes, the envelope may already be addressed. If a package is returned to us because the address you gave was wrong or incomplete, we can send it again, with the new postage at your cost.
Until the envelope reaches you, the risk is ours. If it has not arrived five weeks after the shipping date, write to contact@alunha.com and we will manage it personally.
For destinations outside the European Union, any customs duties, import taxes or handling fees are set by the destination country and are payable by the recipient. We cannot know or anticipate them.
Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you have 14 calendar days to withdraw from your purchase without giving any reason and without penalty.
For the Magic Mail Club subscription, the 14 days start on the day you — or someone you designate — physically receive the first envelope.
To exercise it, simply send us an unambiguous statement by email to contact@alunha.com. You can use the model form at the end of this section, but you do not have to. Sending the notice before the 14 days are up is enough.
We will refund every payment we received from you, including the standard delivery cost, within 14 days of being informed, using the same payment method you used. We may hold the refund until we receive the goods back or you send us proof that you have sent them.
You must return the goods without undue delay and in any case within 14 days of telling us. The direct cost of returning them is yours. You are only liable for any loss of value of the goods resulting from handling them beyond what is necessary to check their nature and characteristics.
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- Goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised — commissioned illustrations, bespoke designs, personalised items and any custom work.
- Services already fully performed, when you gave your prior express consent to start and acknowledged that you would lose your right of withdrawal once they were completed.
- Sealed goods that are not suitable for return for health-protection or hygiene reasons, once they have been unsealed.
Returns, refunds and faulty items
If your envelope arrives damaged, incomplete or with the wrong contents, write to contact@alunha.com within 14 days of receiving it and attach a photo if you can. We will send a replacement or refund you, whichever you prefer, at no cost to you.
Beyond that, Spanish law gives you a three-year legal guarantee of conformity on goods. If an item does not match what was offered, you can ask for it to be repaired, replaced, reduced in price or refunded, under the conditions set out in the Consumer Protection Act.
All refunds are issued through Stripe to the payment method you originally used. Depending on your bank, they usually appear within 5 to 10 business days.
Bespoke services and commissions
Commissioned work — book covers, branding, album artwork, illustration — is quoted individually. Before starting, we agree in writing on the scope, the price, the deadlines and the number of revisions included. A deposit may be required to reserve the slot.
Because this work is made to your specifications, it is excluded from the right of withdrawal once it has begun with your express consent. Revisions beyond those agreed are quoted separately.
The rights over the finished work are transferred to you, to the extent agreed, once payment has been made in full. Under Spanish copyright law the author keeps her moral rights, which cannot be transferred, and keeps the right to show the work in her portfolio and social media unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Intellectual property
Every illustration, text, photograph and design on this website and inside the Magic Mail Club envelopes is the property of its author (Alba Marín Maceda) and is protected by Spanish and international copyright law.
What you receive is for your personal enjoyment. Reproducing, distributing, reselling or using it commercially, or using it to train artificial intelligence models, requires written permission. Sharing a photo of your envelope on social media, crediting the studio, is of course welcome.
Privacy policy
The controller of your personal data is Alunha Art Studio, located in Madrid, Spain.
What we collect, why, and on what legal basis:
- Name, email and postal address, to manage your subscription and send you your envelope. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
- Your name, email and message when you use the contact form, to answer you. Legal basis: your consent and pre-contractual steps taken at your request.
- Billing records, because tax law requires us to keep them. Legal basis: legal obligation.
We do not sell or share your data for advertising, and we do not build profiles with it. We only pass it on to those who need it to make the service work: Stripe, which processes payments and manages subscriptions; the provider that delivers the contact form messages to our inbox; our hosting provider; and the postal operator, which needs your address to deliver. Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, in which case the transfer is covered by the safeguards the GDPR requires, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
We keep your data while your subscription is active, and afterwards only for as long as the law requires us to keep commercial and tax records.
You can ask us at any time to access, rectify or erase your data, to restrict or object to its processing, or to receive it in a portable format, and you can withdraw your consent whenever you like. Just write to contact@alunha.com. If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), www.aepd.es.
This website is not directed at children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Cookies
This website does not use cookies: neither its own nor third-party ones, and neither for analytics, advertising nor tracking. Fonts are served from our own server rather than from an external provider.
To know how many people visit the site and how fast it loads, we use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, provided by our hosting company. They do not use cookies, do not store anything on your device and do not identify you: they only count anonymous, aggregated visits (the page viewed, the country, and the type of device and browser).
If this ever changes — for instance when the shop opens — and something requires cookies, we will publish a cookie policy and ask for your consent before setting anything.
Liability
We are liable for the correct performance of what we sell, under the terms set by law. Nothing in these conditions restricts or waives the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as postal strikes or natural disasters. This does not affect what is said above about lost envelopes: until your envelope reaches you, the risk is ours.
Applicable law and complaints
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you can bring any dispute before the courts of your own place of residence.
Before that, we would much rather sort it out directly: write to contact@alunha.com and we will do our best to fix it. You can also address a complaint to the consumer protection authority of your region, or to the equivalent body in your country if you live elsewhere in the European Union.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service or in the law. The version that applies to your order is the one published at the moment you place it, so it is worth saving a copy when you subscribe.
If a change materially affects an active subscription, we will tell you by email at least 30 days in advance, and you will be free to cancel before it takes effect.
